Sleeps 6 + 4 in two separate units
Welcome to the Shabby Shacks. One of the oldest untouched and un-renovated properties in Morgan Bay, well-known for their incredible views and position. They are situated right next to the hotel, a stone’s throw from the beach with views of the ocean, beach and cliffs. The houses sleep 6 and 4 respectively, in two separate self-contained self-catering units.
The shacks have retained the old worldliness with basic electricity, no en-suite bathrooms, no bedroom doors, only curtains for privacy. They are almost like the old Transkei beach houses or fisherman shacks from yesteryear, only cleaner with a few creature comforts. It is a holiday to get away from it all and lose yourself in the idleness of the day.
If you feel the need to re-connect to civilisation, pop across to the Morgan Bay Hotel for some retail therapy at The Sandhoppa, have a spoil at the Milkwood Spa or a enjoy a scrumptious meal at The Deck Restaurant & Bar.
This Shack sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, while rooms 2 and 3 have 2 single beds each. There is a shared bathroom with shower, basin and separate toilet down the passage.
The quaint, comfortable open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge leads out onto a small stoep with grassy lawn and a view to die for – so close you can smell the ocean.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge/freezer, 4 plate Defy stove, microwave, toaster, kettle and washing machine.
There is no T.V.
The unit is accessible from the back and front doors.

All bedrooms have comfortable beds, cream poly/percale linen, 2 pillows per guest and micro-fibre duvet inners. All beds have pretty throws at the end of the beds for that afternoon nap. There are minimal curtains in the house, leaving windows open to the view and magnificent sun rises.
On arrival you will be provided with loo paper and bath soap, unfortunately this will not be replenished during your stay. Please bring extra with you or you may purchase at the small supermarket just up the road. Complimentary arrival coffee and tea amenities are available for your enjoyment after the big unpack… these are also not replenished during your stay.
1 bag of complimentary charcoal is provided for your first braai. It is available at the Top Shop. Outdoor furniture and large umbrella available for your comfort.
There is a wash line and pegs if you feel you need to do some washing or the domestic will gladly oblige.
There is a 56cm Weber and Stainless Steel Braai for your convenience. Braai tongs are available in each shack.
A large dustbin is provided outside for excess garbage. Garbage is collected infrequently or if not at all. Please place your garbage in the garbage cage on the curb. Please ask at reception what day collection is as one does not want to put out garbage on the street ahead of time as the dogs and monkeys have a field day. Alternatively, we do not mind the rubbish been placed in our rubbish room at the hotel.
Paraffin Lamps and matches are available for those emergency power outages. There are no electric points in most of the bedrooms, but rechargeable LED lamps are next to each bed. Please note that the house does not have a back-up generator. The MBH is fully functional during outages so a hot cup of coffee, cold beer and meal is always available during these infrequent (or frequent load shedding) outages.
The units do not supply beach towels but we do supply fluffy white bath towels, hand towels and bath mats. Please do not take the bath towels to the beach. If you have forgotten your beach towel, please pop down to our beach boutique – The Sandhoppa and where you are able to purchase one and a whole lot more…
The Shacks come with a domestic, who cleans, makes beds, does washing, washes your dishes etc… she is an additional cost of R25 per hour at a minimum of R100 per day if her services are not needed for a full day. This is to ensure that the Shacks stay clean and tidy and there is not a massive clean-up operation on departure. This also ensures everyone gets to enjoy a much needed break and holiday.
PETS are allowed. Please ensure you pick up your pets poop and place it into a sealed plastic bag before disposing of it in the dust bin provided.
Shabby Shack 1 sleeps a maximum of 6 people and Shabby Shack 2 sleeps a maximum of 4. We do not supply extra glassware, crockery, cutlery, chairs, furniture etc. for additional guests and they may not sleep over, or be present on the property between 10pm and 7am.
